A retired Engineer is helping poor kids realize their dream of boarding a plane in his own money!

Not many in India are privileged to board a flight to travel to their preferred destinations. Spending thousands for the flight is a distant dream  in India where you can afford a train travel for few hundreds. In such a scenario, here is a retired Engineer, Bahadur Chand Gupta from Haryana, who has bought a decommissioned airbus to offer poor people, a flight experience for free, though the flight never leaves the ground.

He purchased this Airbus 300 for 6 lakh rupees in 2003. He has parked it in outskirts of Delhi, and it is visited by mostly underprivileged people, who never got a chance to board an aeroplane.

The former Engineer from Indian Airlines, Gupta says that he is coming from a village background and many friends in his village ask him about the plane and whether they could get a chance to see the plane. So, once he took his friend to the airport but somehow the airport authorities caught him. It was then, he decided to purchase an old aeroplane by selling his land.

In his airbus, he demonstrates how to control an aircraft and how to evacuate an airplane in an emergency – including a go on the functioning slide. For poor people, the entry is free, but if they are from the middle class then he charges 60 rupees.

Many people serve the society in their own way and Gupta is one of them. We salute his efforts and wish that his work may inspire many others to do their bit to the society.
