Jain monk Tarun Sagar is known for his words of great wisdom, he is a learned man and a monk who is respected very much. He represents the Digambara school of Jainism. The monks of this school of thought treat the Dik ( directions) as their dress ( ambara).He addressed the Haryana Assembly on Friday. Famous Bollywood music composer, singer and an Aam Aadmi Party worker Vishal Dadlani made a sarcastic tweet about Tarun Sagar, and about him addressing the assembly nude. But what he didn’t see coming was the outrage and opposition on the social media which backfired big time for him.
The monk sat on a dais and spoke of the marriage between dharma and politics, terrorism and female foeticide. In his forty minute session in the first monsoon session in Haryana, ministers across the parties heard with full attention as the monk delivered his ‘Kadve Vachan’.
But Dadlani wanted to take a dig at him, and him being nude. He decided to take air his opinion on the Jain guru via the micro-blogging website, mocking the fact that the spiritual leader gave the speech in the nude. He used the hashtag #NoKachcheDin along with the tweet, which has now been deleted following the outrage. The screenshot of the tweet also went viral.
The social media didn’t take it on a lighter note and his tweets were strongly condemned.
Even the Delhi chief minister and the Aam Aadmi party chief Arvind Kejriwal also expressed his dissent to the views of Dadlani via tweets.
The outrage was so severe that Dadlani later deleted the tweet, and apologized for him being sarcastic on the monk.
The criticism was too much for him to handle that he finally decided to tweet saying he would quit active politics as well. Probably Dadlani learnt the lesson the hardest possible way.
Moral of the story: Keep your nonsense to yourself. Don’t broadcast it around
