The Terrorist breaded by Pakistan attacked 12th Brigade URI At 0515 hours, terrorist attacked ADM block of Army, The attack was well planned to create maximum casualty. I firmly believe that this was a well-planned attack and would not have been possible without someone from within helping to provide rightful information of army activity at URI. During the attack, the unarmed soldiers were busy refilling Diesel in barrels from fuel tanks and this activity happens on during 5.15 am in the morning. Terrorist lobbed 17 grenades in 3 mins, thus igniting the dump and creating massive fire burning barracks and tents in 150 m area. 13 soldiers burnt alive instantaneously. 32 soldiers injured with severe burns. 4 terrorist were neutralized.
The map found from the terrorist clearly explains the plan of the terrorists, they first want to kill unarmed troops. And then storm into Medical Aid Unit near Brigade Adm Area. And finally, explode themselves after entering officers mess. The moment Diesel dump exploded due to smog and subsequent explosion militants got disoriented and headed straight towards Soldiers barracks. One militant was gun down there by 19-year-old Dogra soldier, he challenged remaining 3 militants and sustained severe head injury when a bullet hit his Helmet, he was evacuated by colleagues. Since the barracks was empty militants took a defensive position in side barracks of 2 floor and 16 rooms. Later 4 Para Commandoes (SF) stormed the building and sent all militants to hell.
4 more soldiers lost the battle with life in hospital.
17 soldiers died, 30 injured.
There is definitely a lot of questions raising pertaining to this attack consider the fact that
the attack was carried out exactly when the shift change happened and most soldiers were unarmed. ?
How did terrorist lodge grenades exactly at fuel barrels?
How were the maps in possession of the terrorist so accurate?
How did terrorists know the exact layouts of the army base and offers mess in particular?
I speculate the involvement of the local villagers in passing the location and army activity information to LET if not the villagers then who else ? Now that is the question NIA should answer the nation.
This was the biggest attack on Indian army in 26 years and hope the government would really come out of the rule book of exchanging evidence with the terrorist nation called Pakistan and rather take some strong steps to ensure security and instill pride among our soldiers.
