I stand vindicated says BJP leader Yeddyurappa after acquittal in mining scam

Justice is done, I stand vindicated. Thanks to all well wishers, friends and supporters who stood with me in my tough times, tweeted B S Yeddyurappa after a special Central Bureau of Investigation court on Tuesday acquitted him in corruption charges.

The court also acquitted  his two sons, son-in-law and nine others. This judgement has boosted the prospect of Karnataka BJP in the forthcoming state elections in 2018. The corruption case related to illegal mining in Bellary that allegedly involved a bribery amount of Rs 40 crore.

The visibly happy, former CM said, “This pronouncement has come as a relief to lakhs of BJP workers and provided a new vigour to me. I have a task on my hand to bring back the party to power in the next assembly elections. To this end, I will be touring all the constituencies to gather support for the party.”

Earlier in the court hall,  Judge R B Dharmagouder pronounced the 400 page berdict and said that, “The prosecution has become unsuccessful in establishing the guilt of the accused, not only the offences made under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, but also under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code, and hence this court acquits all the accused in the case,”

Yeddyurappa supporters who gathered in large numbers outside the court broke into celebrations, hailing the judgement as they raised slogans in his praise and burst crackers.

This alleged corruption case was slapped to Yeddyurappa when he was the CM of Karnataka. These charges caused huge turmoil in Karnataka politics forcing BSY to resign from the CM post. Now, he has been cleared of most of the corruption cases but is still battling some more.
