Avinash Iragavarapu, a 30-year-old, Telugu man from Kovur in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district is an MBA from IIM Lucknow. Two years back he joined YSR Congress’s election campaign in Andhra Pradesh after quitting his job with HCL Technologies Ltd, New Delhi.
In 2014, he went to US to join his wife over vacation, His wife works for Intel in Arizona. Avinash’s keen interest in political campaigning fascinated him to the polling which was going on in Arizona to elect its governor. Avinash used his strategy to predict a win for Ducey and he was right. He did a lot of data work and polling to identify the areas where the party could spend the money to gain votes.
Avinash performance impressed Robert Graham, Arizona GOP Chairman who made him the party’s data director. Later he was promoted to political director and then to executive director of Arizona Republican Party within a year. He was in charge of all the elections for Arizona, including the general elections and became the chief campaigner and IT strategist for Trump.
Arizona was important for Trump because no Democrat has won the state apart from Bill Clinton in 1996. Apart from Arizona Trump got huge support from Indian-American from other countries including New Jersey despite his anti-India outburst.
In last few days of election, Ms. Clinton winning numbers appeared ahead of Trump. Avinash’s strong game changing strategy and his team redirected the resources. They were also ready with the last-minute action plan which helped Trump’s victory.
According to Avinash, Trump is warm and welcoming. Trump political campaigning was different from traditional. He is a smart businessman who knows how to market himself. Trump earned about $2 billion free media coverage which positively added to his victory. Trump beat 16 other candidates with a high margin.
Avinash is of the view that Clinton’s conventional and overconfident campaigning didn’t work much and people were also tired of the Democratic Party as they found Mrs. Clinton as just an annex to Obama government.
Avinash has vigorously played a considerable and massive role in Trumps win.
