Guillermo Maldonado is visiting India on October 26th. He will stay here in Bangalore for 3 days till 29th of October, in palace grounds and “Pray for India”! Sounds interesting already? Well you are up here for an interesting write up about the most scintillating and fancy self-proclaimed Godman of the century. Guillermo is a Honduras descendant presently staying in USA. He is the co-founder and lead pastor of King Jesus Ministry. KJM is a Latin-American Word of Faith megachurch based in Miami. Guillermo Maldonado has a Master’s in Practical Theology from Oral Roberts University and a Doctorate of Divinity from Vision International University. According to Guillermo he is the messenger of God and Jesus speaks from him! In an interview about how he started this he said, I was called by God 20-some years ago with a visitation. As I prayed, the presence of God filled my room. His presence fell on me and I started weeping and crying. I heard his voice say, “I have called you to bring my supernatural power to this generation.” I was on the floor for two hours, then I heard the voice again but this time inside me telling me the same thing.”
According to his website kingjesus.org, “Apostle Maldonado is a man called by the God to establish the Kingdom of God locally, Nationally and Internationally. He was given the authority to carry out a specific mission: To gain 12% of population of Miami to Christ. The purpose of his life is to establish the Kingdom of God in Miami, the united states, and throughout the world with a specific vision: Evangelize, affirm, disciple and send. ” It also goes onto speak about him saying Apostle Guillermo Maldonado is the Sr. Pastor and founder of King Jesus International Ministry (Ministerio Internacional El Rey Jesus), considered one of the fastest growing multicultural churches in the United States. The development of kingdom leaders and the visible manifestation of God’s supernatural power distinguish this ministry which has over 100 churches under its spiritual covering in a growing network that extends throughout the U.S., Latin America, and Europe. Dr. Maldonado has authored over 50 books and manuals.
Well, now if you have a picture of this man in your mind you have the motive behind his visits to places or speeches are very clear. He is a Christian preacher who concentrates mainly on the non-English speaking community around the world. His speeches are usually carried out in English or Spanish. His works of “Christ” started in June 1996. His colorful decorative words found him 12 followers. He started preaching them in his house. He claimed of having supernatural healing powers, asserted that Jesus didn’t die of crucifixion and the spirits of Jesus roams around and has entered his body. His hypnotic words got him 40 followers in 3 months. He had a following of over 250 people by the end of another 6 months. By 2010 his follower base had grown to 7000 people. If you are wondering and assuming that the preaching is actually worth a shot, you are wrong. This guy shouts, cries, jumps, mimics and creates a mass hysteria on stage. Fancy lights, crowd hysteria, cheers, dances and all sorts of dramas that can make you wonder if you are actually abnormal not reacting that way. He claims to cure cancer by touch, bring back the dead to life and much more. Strategically planted members of his group amongst the audience add more flavors to the din by clapping hysterically and dancing with all the unpleasant fervor. You will have seen many similar videos of this kind and know who it actually look like.
However, if you are a follower of Christianity and believe in Jesus, even then you have a bad news. Maldonado teaches the unbiblical concept of first-fruits seed-faith tithing. He teaches that you can “activate” God’s Word and the power of redemption by “honouring God” with your “first fruits” of your income. He promises that God will “redeem” the rest of your income for a year if you will set aside a month of giving your entire income to his church. “The fasting of the first fruit has the power of multiplication. Every time you honor [God] first, God will say that his money, his finances, is protected because he honored God first.” This is against the teachings present in any scriptures. According to him God bestows upon you his grace when you donate your first salary, or a substantial amount of your earning to his church!
If you think this is all, well there is another nail in his coffin box. Any preacher, with motive to preach religion, convert people, or display fake supernatural powers can’t get an Indian Visa. This is why he claims to visit India, ‘To Pray for India.” This isn’t the first time he has visited India in the pretext of Prayers. He has visited Bengaluru and Mumbai even the last year and propagated his ideas of Christianity and has begun his routine of “Mass conversion” and establishment of “God’s Kingdom” even in India. He is supported by his wife Ana, or according to Kingdom of Jesus, “Pastor Ana” and two of his sons. His self-claimed prophecy, the doctrine of his church has faced a lot of rebuke and hatred even amongst the westerners who are not in good terms with his ways. There are Facebook pages dedicated to him, unearthing his fake propaganda and unmasking the Satan of a man he is. The government and the ministry of Home affairs and the ministry of external affairs have to throw more light and dig more information on how this man has been issued a VISA for his preaching and religious conversion and manipulation addresses.
Footnote: The Government of Karnataka strongly advocates its strict rule against any “ Superstitious beliefs” and also plans to bring in a bill, Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Bill, 2017 aiming to eradicate all superstitious activities. The act of healing, mass manipulation, conversion, hypnosis, claims of curing cancer by touch, and bringing back the dead to life are all the integral parts of superstitious activities and are evil practices that are to be banned and not entertained. We urge the Government of Karnataka also to take proper action and preventive measures against this self-proclaimed God-Man and stand up against his maligned motives.
