The Good:

Design: No questions here. If you’re looking for a smartphone with the best design, the Mi Mix 2 is your pick. Just look at this phone. It’s gorgeous from every angle, well, except for the bottom bezel. The phone looks extremely premium for its price. Both the front and back looks amazing with rounded edges and all wrapped ceramic design. And there is literally no bezels on the top and the sides of the phone. It looks all display.

Display, Memory, and Battery:

The 5.99 inches display is probably the right size, it falls perfectly in the hands and makes it easier to hold. The Mi Mix 2 has a great display, though the resolution is 1080p. 2K displays are overkill in a smartphone, as it reduces the performance and takes a toll on the battery. Speaking of which, the Mi Mix 2 sports a generous 3400 mAh battery, which should be enough for a single working day.

The 6 GB RAM should be more than sufficient to run things smoothly, considering the Snapdragon 835 processor under the hood. Also, the 128 GB memory means, you have nothing to worry as far as storage is concerned. The Mi Mix 2 is very competitively priced against the OnePlus 5, which is 37,999 Rs/- for the 6 GB RAM and 128 GB variant.

The Bad:

Software: The Mi Mix 2 runs on MIUI 9. Some people may like it, but we are not a big fan of MIUI. The worst part is, it still runs on top of Android 7.1.1, and it may take a few months before it will be updated to Android Oreo.

The Mi Mix 2 is not waterproof. Not even splash resistant. For a 2017 flagship, it’s a mandatory criterion.

Also, there is no headphone jack. That’s a deal breaker for many.

And the Ugly:

We would have loved it, if the bottom bezel were on the top of the phone, that would have made it perfect. Also, this one change would have put the front camera on top, which is where its supposed to be. It’s awkwardly placed at the bottom right corner. Flipping your phone upside down everytime you take a selfie is rather inconvenience at best.

While the phone checks all the boxes for design, it lacks a few important ones. If you’re comfortable all these drawbacks, and all you need is a great design in your next phone, then the Mi Mix 2 would be perfect. If you’re looking for a perfect Android flagship, check out the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
