Micromax Canvas Silver 5 – sacrifice performance for style?

Would you be interested to get the slimmest and lightest phone, but with a lower specs? If you would, then the Micromax Canvas Silver 5 is made just for you. Weighing at an insane 97 grams! ?(OMG, I am not kidding!!!) and a thickness or rather thinness of 5.1mm, it is the phone for people who likes to show off. Nah, nothing much.

Here’s a quick specs of the device: Sporting Snapdragon 410 (64 Bit) chipset clocked at 1.2GHz with Qualcomm® Adreno™ 306 GPU, and 2GB of RAM. With 16 GB of internal storage, there’s no external Micro SD support, of course you have to bear with that for the style. It has 4.8 inches 720p Display, 2000MAh Battery, 8 MP rear camera, 5 MP front, 97 grams light, 5.1mm thin and 4G enabled.

Thoughts: Imagine yourself with the Batman or Ironman outfit, only that, not the powers. The Micromax Canvas Silver 5 is exactly that. With a device of this thin and light, you have to sacrifice something. So, you get a mediocre processor and less battery. Thinking from the manufacturer point of view, a snapdragon 410 processor may consume less power, but still, from the users perspective, the battery is considerably lower than the competition offerings in the same price range.

Speaking of competition, the phone is priced at Rs. 17,999 /-, in the same range you get a lot of better options like, Xiaomi Mi4, One Plus One, Lumia 830, Galaxy E7, HTC Desire 820, Sony M4 Aqua Dual sim or even the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Nexus 5’s had a price drop and was sold for Rs. 18,000 /- recently.

Having said that, the choice is yours. You either sacrifice performance for style or choose a different phone? Or hey, there’s always a better one tomorrow!
