As the reports keep pouring in about the amount of loss that Sony has been facing lately, particularly in their mobile division, the company keeps trying hard to stabilize things. And any company, for that matter, is one product away from success. That one heck of a product is all it takes to be on top. With that hope, Sony has added 3 new smartphones to their Xperia series yesterday, at the IFA 2015, Berlin. The Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 premium with a mind-boggling 4K display.

There are 3 devices, but only with little differences. The display size, pixel density, and RAM. Everything else is the same. That’s the good thing about it. You don’t get anything less. These devices are backed with latest 23 MP camera sensor from Sony, that is claimed as the fastest in a smartphone , which the company says, will be exclusive only for Xperia devices, at least for a while. Also, just like any other Xperia, the Z5 series also comes with IP68 water and dust proof.

Thoughts: All 3 smartphones have a solid specs sheet and they are targeted towards a particular audience. We can expect a high-quality camera from these phones. The Xperia Z5 will have it’s fan-following for the very fact that it has the world’s first 4K display. We are not sure how the device will hold up with the 3430 mAh battery when the QHD displays are not keeping up with it. The phones also support quick charging, so that’s something to relieve considering the huge batteries.

We would suggest the users to hold on to their nerves before buying the devices, considering how hot (literally!) the Snapdragon 810 processor is. We’ve been getting heat complaints from users and even some manufacturers (Samsung, LG, and Moto, etc) ditched the 810 because of the heat issues. So, it’s better to wait than taking sunbath with the phone.

Further, if you’re as cold as Switzerland and okay with the heat issues, though the Xperia Z5 Premium is the best looking and high-quality smartphone of all, we would suggest the Z5 or Z5 Compact for their lower pixel density, which will lead to better battery life. And the Z5 Compact will be the perfect phone for those who doesn’t like bigger screen displays. And for the big boys out there, who doesn’t mind carrying a power bank and ready to plug-in their phone twice-a-day, you can go for the Z5 Premium.

Release date and price in India:

The phones were just announced in IFA this week, and the prices are not revealed for any country. But Sony hints, the price will also be premium like the phones. We expect the phones to be released in India next month. And the considering the previous pricing of Xperia devices, we think the Z5 Premium will be around 58,000 Rs. /-. And the Z5 at 52,000 Rs. /-. We can expect the Z5 compact to be priced at Rs. 44,000 /-.

Meanwhile, if you’re a die-hard fan of Sony, and you feel these phones are too big for your wallet, we suggest you to consider the mid-rangers Xperia M5 and C5.
