Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4 – an opinion

Microsoft introduced the Surface Pro lines a few years ago in the US. Though, they were not initially popular, the Surface Pro 3 was too good to ignore, eventually, it made Microsoft profitable in the 2-in-1 category for the first time since its introduction. As you would expect, it took almost 2 years for the Surface Pro 3 to reach India, under the leadership of CEO Satya Nadella.

The largest software company in the world launched the Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4 in India yesterday.

Opinion: The Surface Pro 3 is selling in US for $599 and the Surface Pro 4 costs $900 for the basic model, which will convert to approximately 40,000 Rs/- and 60,000 Rs/- repectively. But, both of the models have been almost 40% overpriced, even if you consider the taxes to import the product. If you are still interested to buy, we would suggest the Surface Pro 4, which has the 6th Gen. Intel core processors and it gives more value for your money.

The Surface Pro 4 is 30% faster than the Surface Pro 3 and 50% faster than the MacBook Pro, as explained by Microsoft, albeit the real world scenarios speak for otherwise.

Microsoft also released the Surface Pen and Keyboard separately for 5,990 Rs/- and 12,490 Rs/- respectively.

It is wiser to wait for the 2016 Macbooks, as rumours say, Apple is going to do a major overhaul. The next generation Apple devices will be unveiled in March 2016.
