“I had one child. I gave him to the army… to the nation. No father can be prouder.” These are the words of the proud father Sri Rajbir Singh, father of martyr Captain Pawan Kumar. His son had just turned 23 last year and he is no more now. The brave army officer succumbed due to the injuries sustained during an antiterrorist mission to cleanse the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneur Development Institute (JKEDI) building from the holds of the militants in Sempora-Pampore, south Kashmir. “Captain Pawan Kumar of 10 Parachute Regiment attained martyrdom while leading his men from the front in a tricky deliberate operation against terrorists hiding in a government building,” said the press release from the army. The nation is saddened by the martyrdom of this dare devil soldier. But what remains as a painful and a shameful act is the fact that the army has to request the people of Haryana to give this soldier a respectful farewell that he deserves. This is a matter of shame that the act of supreme sacrifice by a man who stood and died by the national flag, and to safeguard the sovereignty of the country is not receiving the respect that it should have received.
The defense spokesperson of the northern command of the India army called for the people to extend support in his statement which read, ”The Army appeals to the people of Haryana to extend their full support in giving a befitting farewell to this brave son of their soil.” We have to remember the matter of fact that normal life in Haryana is disrupted due to violent protests by Jats who are demanding quota in OBC category.
And the issue of the martyrdom of this great soul is seldom discussed because people are busy debating about the “Anti-National” activities done by some stupid individuals. The nation is torn between the JAT-JNU issue so much that no one cares about the extreme sacrifice of a soldier. I am afraid if this nation has any right to have soldiers of this solidarity to defend it’s boundaries when its internals are being torn by individuals who think only of their gains. The patriotism of these soldiers is called as “ Extreme-Nationalism< which is dangerous to the country” !! Wah!! Compliments dear people. “You put us to shame,” and these great soldiers don’t deserve to die to save you from being attacked. Remember that the Captian was a Jat and an alumni of JNU!!
Captian Pavan Kumar’s final status on facebook was probably representing every jawans answer for all these acts of stupidity. It read “Kisiko reservation chahiye to kisiki ko azadi bhai. Humein kutch nahin chahiye bhai. bas apni razai.”
(Some ask for the reservation while some ask for independence. I don’t want anything, except my blanket.)
Rest in peace my dear friend. India and proud nationals of India will remember your sacrifice. “Captian Pawan Kumar Amar rahe!!!”
