Nationalism is measles of mankind, said Albert Einsten. It is a psychological disease, according to me. Look at history textbooks; nationalism is the major cause of all conflicts and wars.
I am not a liberal. Kindly don’t judge me, before discoursing with me. Well, I am a libertarian. In any way, I am unconvinced about this fact that “nationalism has helped mankind, in the way of achieving freedom”.
In short, since the advent of 21st century, nationalists have replaced their white colonies with brown/black colonies with few new euphemisms. Truth is bitter, no matter how many disbelieve it.
Nationalists believe that they stand for freedom. Good. In my view, their belief is logically incorrect. They are actually standing for government’s version of liberty and it doesn’t make them free. It is just a slavery with an introduction to demagogy.
Nationalists believe that they are “protecting” their borders. They have blind respect for political authorities, public policies and public officials like soldiers, etc. too. This doesn’t liberate them from “real” consequences. Their belief distorts the process of market exchanges, because their faith in social structures is hopelessly inured with statism, economic interventionism, corruption, etc. They masquerade to tackle “all” the problems, but their logic is circular and therefore they are engrossed in the rat race.
Nationalists believe that constitution empowers them with “fundamental” rights and duties. Truly speaking, they have unquestioned the episteme of constitution. When did they sign social contract contract with their faithful government? How come they’re enforcing their ideas on dissent, when they claim to be more humane than the rest? Read: Condomstitution
Nationalists believe that their historic figures fought for freedom and are also sacred. Any amount of blasphemy or sedition are not tolerated. Good. What they fail to realize with their real eyes is that their historic figures were “terrorists”, according to [previous] ruler. Currently, the [present] ruler considers any deviant or dissent as “terrorist”. The disobedient creatures are charged under sedition, if they attempt to disagree with mainstream views, today. There goes a saying “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom-fighter”
Nationalists have subconsciously helped the state in expanding its power at the cost of freedom. Albeit some wing of nationalism claims to “minimize the state power” but it is truly impossible to do so because a leech cannot control its own diet. Their civil obedience towards the modern state have established a socialist system of orwellianism too. From inflation to laws, nationalists have helped the state to become more apoplithorismosphobic and emporiophobic.
Nationalists believe that their nation belongs to them, respectively speaking. Good. In my view, they have unnoticed that nation is state’s sovereign property. Citizenship is a new form of slavery, whereas they’re liable to pay property tax on their private property too because state helps to classify them as better humans than “other” humans of other nations. Seems legit. Tragedy is that eleutherophobic nationalists believe in the principles of humanity.
Nationalists believe that it is also immoral to trust people with the power of voluntaryism or freedom and it is moral to trust few people with the power of authoritarianism.
