With the budget session starting, all the responsible, educated and conscientious citizens’ eyes are on the reforms and plans of the Indian government. But, at the same time, people who are keeping track of the current scenario of the country have realized that not much is going to happen in the budget. Because parliament asks for a majority to pass a bill and the government currently does not have the majority in both the houses. Also, it seems illegitimate to pass major bills by calling a joint session of the parliament just to gain the majority.
2 years back a government started with an ideology of “Sabka Saath sabka vikas” and “India First”. I as a citizen of India thought the “Sabka” here referred to every citizen of India. But, today I realize that the first “Sabka” here is turning out to be a reference to every MP in the parliament. Because, without every MP voting for the good of the country, the bills are not passed and, in turn, no reforms and no betterment. So, without Sabka (every MP’s) saath, there cannot be Sabka(every Indian’s) vikas.
If you look closely, there is a planned activity that happens before every major event Indian government plans for. Just before every parliament session, unrest is created in the country. This unrest looks like a staged one and involves a lot of stakeholders and partners in the process. The media, the politicians, and even common men have joined hands in creating this unrest. A lot of students associations have been ‘Used’ in this and this whole drama reminds me of old movies in which they used to use student associations to start any riot and to create unrest. There is hardly any difference I find here.
I would have appreciated if the bills were rejected after a mature debate on the topic and with a conclusion on the bill being of no good to the development. But, today the bills are not being presented itself as per the plan because the sessions get blocked due to fighting on some issue which parliament should not be wasting time on. Every minute of the parliament session should be dedicated towards the development but unfortunately, every minute is today used towards blocking the development.
Ultimately for a common man who earns enough only to have at least 2 meals a day, it does not matter if a foreign country is investing in the country or if India’s arms and ammunitions have grown stronger or it is of least concern to him if Modi and India have got a position in world level. For him what matters is what is the price of diesel, what is the price of a KG rice and wheat. Also, it is a great matter of concern for the people of the country that the country is safe from Pakistan and China. A common man may not understand the budget government proposes. But he will feel the consequences or improvements as an effect of the budget.
My only request to the representatives of the common man in the parliament is simple. Do not waste those precious times. It may be a fun for you or it might be the agenda to get back your position in next election. For that sake, do not give common men’s life into a stake. Let it truly be “Sabka saath Sabka Vikas”. For us, it is always “India first”. Let it be for you too! Let not sabka saath sabka saath remain as a dream forever.
