On the morning of 24th February, I woke up to realize something in WhatsApp was unusual, it took me some time to realize what had happened. WhatsApp decided to play a new card in the game of app dominance with its new photo status feature. This update was more a duplication of features available as stories in Instagram and Snapchat.
Probably developers at WhatsApp assumed that this feature is going to be a hit. But not everything that we plan works, same was the case with WhatsApp photo status. People disliked it from the word go.
Now WhatsApp seems to have realized it’s mistake and it has decided to roll back the feature. The proposal as it stands now will give the user the provision to opt between text status or a photo status instead. Finally, that sounds like a bit of relief for the users.
