Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus – Specs, Price and Release Date in India

Samsung released their latest flagship phones Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus on August 13. As we have already seen in many leaks, both of these devices did not have SD card slot and removable battery which is a huge drawback for many users. Both of these devices have 5.7 inches QHD display and 4 GB RAM. Though there aren’t many things to differentiate, both of these devices are unique in their own way. Here we’ll have a look at both of the devices.

Thoughts: Both the Galaxy Note 5 and the S6 Edge Plus have more things in common between them. The Note 5 has a Stylus and the Edge Plus has a dual Edge display. That’s the only big difference between them. And the S6 Edge plus is the phablet version of S6 Edge. One thing to consider here is the camera. The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Plus have one of the best cameras in the industry today. Now, with the inclusion of Phase Detect Auto Focus (Latest Addition to the sensor by Sony) in Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus, Samsung will be a step ahead in the game.

Even though the phones really sounds tempting, we would rather wait and get a Moto X Style, which will be priced about Rs. 25,000/- in India and has a solid specs sheet as well and that’s a great value for your money.

Release date and Price in India: We expect the price of Note 5  to be at least Rs. 52,000/- and the S6 Edge plus Rs. 50,000/-. If at all Samsung has learnt something, they should be pricing the phones at least 5K less than usual. But, As we have already discussed here, it’s better to wait for a couple of months before you buy any phone from Samsung. And recently the company also has agreed to cut down the prices of their phones to increase the sales.

The official Samsung India website has listed only S6 Edge Plus in their site, that means the Note 5 may take a couple of months to release in India. So, we expect the S6 Edge Plus to release in India by the end of August and Note 5 to release in September.

Update: The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus was announced in India on 21st August for a whopping 57,900 Rs. /-, which is 4K more than the US price. Looks like Samsung, after all hasn’t learned a bit. However there’s no information on the Note 5 yet.
