Motherhood Is Not For Everyone

She will hold you in your arms when you cry,

Cure you from every pain in your life.

She will stay awake until you doze off in your dream world.

She will give you every bit piece of bread to eat even if she has to sleep empty stomach that night.

She will do anything to just make sure you are alright.

Tell me how someone can love you so unconditionally like she does

She is the symbol of Love & Selflessness.

SHE IS MOTHER.

I have always been told that someday when I will grow a little old, I will be a mother too. And since my childhood, I never felt it as an acceptable idea. It never made me happy, when I told my mother ‘I am too selfish to nurture a child’, every time I just got one answer “When you will grow old, your mind will automatically change”

Today I am 22 and I still believe that motherhood is not for me. It’s not that I don’t like children but I can’t love someone more than my own self. Maybe I am selfish. And mothers are supposed to be selfless, aren’t they?

Maybe it’s me who is missing some chain in DNA that all mothers are supposed to possess.

I cannot commit someone to play the same role, again and again, every day. I have always seen mothers enjoying this process of life, but I cannot enjoy it when my child says me he hates me, what am I supposed to say him that “Yes I understand.” NO, but I am not capable of taking refusals, his fighting’s and his frustration.

You may call me selfish, immature but we all have few dreams and so will my child, and if I ever become a mother, at a point one of us will have to compromise our dream and as a mother that would be me which I am not ready to do.

As a woman, I will live my whole life working according to someone, first my parents then my husband, adjusting and compromising; after all, this having a child will only involve a commitment for next 25years minimum to take care of his/her needs before mine.

I am not saying motherhood is not beautiful. If it would not have been one of the most beautiful feelings in the world then maybe I would not be here writing this.

But maybe it’s not for everybody.
