Tanzanian Student assault: Why isn’t the Mainstream Media debating about this incident?

How safe is Bengaluru for a tourist from abroad/ or a student from a foreign land? “ Athithi Devo Bhava” is our culture, we welcome everyone and we treat them good. So it should be a paradise for anyone who comes in. If this is your notion, well it’s time for you to check this article. A Tanzanian student is said to have been partially stripped and assaulted by the locals in Bangalore. This came in as a reaction to the accident where a Sudanese student’s car ran over and killed a local woman named Shabana Taj.

The mob which consisted of locals of a community belonging to the victim is alleged to have assaulted 4 Tanzanians a woman, and three of her friends who passed by the accident spot after the accident. A police official who denied to disclose his identity said that the crowd chased the 21 year old girl and “Removed her top”! This incident occurred on Sunday night and took 2 days to surface on the mainstream media. This incident is reported from the Hessarghatta area after an allegedly drunk student from Sudan ran his car over a woman sleeping on the roadside. The man was beaten up and his car was set on fire.

Bernandoo Kafumu, president of the Tanzanian students’ association at the local college, said the woman and her three friends who were passing by stopped to see what had happened. Little did they know that an attack was in store for them. She did not even know the man who was involved in the accident, and sadly she had to run for her life “said one of her friends. And Tanzanians are no way connected to Sudanese!

The mob set their car on fire after they tried to run back to their car and drive away. The local people chased her and removed her. A possible sexual assault is however denied by the city cops. The local government bodies have to take stern steps against the public outrage of this kind and make sure that such acts of violence against women are prevented from occurring in future.
