Since independence from colonial rule in 1947, Pakistan and India have fought several wars over the status of Gilgit-Baltistan which is now Pakistan illegally occupied Kashmir and the rest of disputed Kashmir to its east.
The Chinese army presence in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and using the land for terrorist camps along with setting up of military bunkers to wage war against India has come as the wrong move to Pakistan as people of POK seems to be strongly opposing Chinese activity in activity in the region. People from Neelum had come out in protest again Pakistan and their anti-human activities in POK region. The residents of Neelum had openly burnt Pakistan flags on streets of POK.
The POK region is home to 12 of the 30 highest peaks on Earth, and its massive glaciers are the source of water for most of the Indian subcontinent. UN has clearly told Pakistan to vacate the POK region however it still continues to own the region violating all human rights. However off late the region has irrupted for freedom from Pakistan and massive protest has broken out. It now becomes the responsibility of United Nations to look into the magnitude of protest and immediately intervene to liberate Gilgit-Baltistan from the illegal clutches of Pakistan.
