Akash Chopra Wants MS Dhoni To Be Removed From T20I Squad

BCCI announced India’s T20I squad for the upcoming India vs Australia 3 match T20 series on Monday. Veteran player Ashish Nehra made a comeback to the team as a T20 specialist bowler. The star spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin was once again ignored. Dinesh Karthik made a cut into the team instead of Rishabh Pant. While the team is looking well balanced, commentator Akash Chopra has expressed apprehensions regarding the team selection.

Akash Chopra feels MS Dhoni should not play in T20I matches anymore. And he has a reason for it. He feels that MS Dhoni will feature in the ICC World Cup 2019 but doubts whether he will continue till the next WT20I Cup.  The World T20 Cup is scheduled on 2020. Akash feels that Rishabh Pant could have given chance to back the youngster.

Mystery of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina’s exclusion

”Dinesh Karthik has been rewarded for his performance in Windies and stellar performance in the domestic season. Ashish Nehra is also back someone who is considered as a T20 specialist. The biggest surprise is no Suresh Raina and no Yuvraj Singh. Is there or is something with fitness test or more to it something we would want to know,”

Aakash Chopra said while analysing the squad via ESPNcricinfo.

”There is no Jadeja and Ashwin and no talk about them either. In fact, both will be playing for their respective states in the domestic format where they would bowl more overs than in Australia series. Maybe selectors are seeing beyond them when it comes to limited overs cricket,”

he added.

The India vs Australia T20 series will begin on Oct 7. And the list of players in the Indian squad is as below –

Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma (vice captain), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ashish Nehra, Axar Patel
