Leonardo DiCaprio – the Titanic actor, is one of the best in Hollywood. The American actor has won 44 awards and 4 runner ups from a whopping 161 nominations. He has been nominated 6 times for the Oscars (Academy Awards) and never won one. He has tasted every prestigious award on the planet but the most prestigious one. If we have to write about the awards he received, it will take at least a couple of pages.

Now, let us get back to the Oscars. The 88th Academy Awards will be given on 28th February, and the whole world is expecting Leo to win the award. There are tons of jokes and trolls about Leo and Oscars, heck, there are even a few games on the Play Store (Oscar Goes to… Leonardo, Leo and Oscar, etc,..), do give it a try, they’re so funny.
And, some of the jokes are so crazy, a couple of my favorites:
“And the Oscar goes to…. the bear!” (The Revenant).
“Always the Bridesmaid, never the Bride.”
Let’s admit it, every time this guy signs up for a movie, he gives his 100%, no one can deny that fact. But, we ought to also notice the fact that, each time when he was nominated, there was another actor, who has done much better or should I say, got a much better role, to prove himself.
Take 2014 for example, he was nominated for the best actor in the “The Wolf of the Wall Street”, along with Matthew McConaughey, who has played as an AIDS patient in “Dallas Buyers Club”. If you compare both the roles, McConaughey’s role as HIV diagnosed is superior and that earned him the Academy Award for the Best Actor. Same was the story behind his previous nominations.
Leo DiCaprio is not the only actor who hasn’t won an Oscar. There are other great actors too,.. Johnny Depp hasn’t won an Oscar, Hugh Jackman – hasn’t, Tom Cruise hasn’t, Robert Downy Jr – hasn’t, Will Smith – hasn’t won an Oscar, and the list goes on and on. But, not every actor in this list has been made fun of, it’s only Leonardo. Why? Because he came too close and never won the race. Because it is Leonardo, the charm of Hollywood.
Now, the 88th Academy Awards will be presented on the 28th of February, and this time too, Leonardo has very tough competitions from, Eddy Redmayne – last year’s Academy Award winner, for his wonderful role in The Danish Girl, Micheal Fassbender – for playing Steve Jobs, Matt Demon for The Martian and Bryan Cranston for Trumbo. It won’t be easier for Leonardo DiCaprio to snatch the Award, every actor has played their best.
So, let us just hope that he will receive the most prestigious award, at least, this time. If he doesn’t, then let us respect the fact that the others have done better, and there’s always next year. And we all know, he’ll be back with yet another nomination with an even better performance. It is not the Oscar win that decides his performance and hard work, it is his loyal fans, and he has won their hearts long back. There are some people, whose performance can’t be measured by awards, he has gone beyond the Oscars, long ago when he won the hearts of the people.
All that being said, let’s wait and see if Leonardo DiCaprio wins the Oscars!
