A Facebook post from a B R Bhaskar Prasad, a close acquaintance and an aide of the former Media adviser to the chief minister of Karnataka Mr. Dinesh Amin Mattu has caused a lot of buzz in the social media off-late. Mr. Bhaskar Prasad has accused the former media adviser of being closely associated with contract killers and to have also shared the address and personal details of a writer with whom he had ideological differences. Mr. Prasad has accused Mr. Mattu of trying to silence the voice of the writer by killing him.
In his post Prasad speaks about how Mr. Dinesh went on to give a free hand to the perpetrators of the crime and how he had assured them of controlling the police so that they could escape without being brought to justice.
Mr. Mattu had serious ideological differences with a writer and had taken constant jibes at the writer. Certain posts from the media advisor to the former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were at a personal level and were of bad taste. However, it was all fine when they were limited to social media posts. However, the recent discourse of events and the way things have turned out in the near past have raised serious questions on the law and order situation that existed in the state and the way in which a lot of issues were handled by the government in the past.
If what is said by Bhaskar Prasad is to be believed former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his media advisor Dinesh Amin Mattu will have to answer few tough questions that the people of the state are seeking answers for!
1.) Was the media advisor to the chief minister misusing his powers to silence the voices of those who didn’t fall in line with his political ideologies?
2.) Did Mr. Mattu affect and influence the way in which the police acted and investigated various cases in the past?
3.) Was the basic rights of people to express their opinions and views under serious threat?
4.) Was this political influence an important factor in rendering the police investigation of writers and activists like Gauri Lankesh and Prof. KM Kalaburgi ?
5.) There were questions raised about the deaths of an IAS officer and involvement of contract killers in the case as well! These claims were rubbished later. Was this a blatant misuse of power ?
6.) Did the Government or and the media advisor misuse the office for their own Personal benefits and to fuel personal vendetta?
Neither Dinesh Amin Mattu or the former chief minister Siddaramaiah have come out in open or have commented on this so far. Here are a few updates on why this mud slinging between Bhaskar Prasad and Dinesh Mattu are important. The Udupi chalo event organized by the duo and inviting Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani and other Congress leaders to the event caused lead to the misunderstanding between the two. While Prasad wanted this event to an ideological one void of political leaders Mattu wanted to showcase the Congress power in this event. Ever since then the two had distanced themselves from each other. This is not the first time the allegations of misuse of power and office has been made on Mr. Mattu. He had filed cases against a set of activists associated with a group called Nilume. This had happened after Dinesh Mattu had written an article in which he had written a lot of degrading opinions on the sage Vivekananda. His comments that ” People who vote for BJP are eunuchs” and his posts celebrating the defeat of BJP in Bihar when holding a government office had stirred a lot of controversies in the past.
Now the question that remains is if a sou Moto case against him for the misuse of office will be filed or not. Let us hope that justice prevails
