Thoughts:
As far as specs sheet is concerned, Moto X Play is a top mid-range device. It comes with Snapdragon 615 processor, which should be pretty smooth for most of your day-to-day stuff. And the phone also has a 21 MP rear snapper and a 5 MP front camera for all your adventures and selfies. The camera is comparatively better than the previous iterations from Motorola, if not better than the competition. And the very reason one would buy a Moto X Play. is the monstrous battery, 3630 MAh, which should give you a day and a half even if you are a heavy user.
So, for an average user, the phone is a perfect buy. If you are looking for something bigger and better, we suggest you wait for the Moto X Style, which we expect, will be released in mid-October in India. Or if your budget is little low, the Moto G 2015 is the only option you may want.
Against the competition: So, how does it stand against the likes of OnePlus Two, Asus Zenphone 2 and Mi 4i? The OnePlus Two can be the only competition worth comparing. The rest aren’t just good enough on the software side. Build quality, battery and brand wise, the Moto X Play is the better phone, but OnePlus steals the show with other features such as, fingerprint scanner and Snapdragon 810 processor. We will compare the phones in a separate article for the confused ones.
