Monsoon is coming soon…or has already started in some places. So, it’s time for some waterproof phones as well? Sony released their long awaited smartphone M4 Aqua in India yesterday for a price Rs. 24,990 /-, that is now costlier than the flagships like Nexus 5, Moto X 2nd Gen. and Samsung Galaxy S5. The Top-Mid-level smartphone from the big player Sony, whose struggling in their mobile profits, is priced much higher than the expected price of around 20k.
The configuration of M4 Aqua:
Screen: 720p, 5” inches.
Processor: 64 bit Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 8939 chipset (Quad-core 1.5 GHz + Quad core 1.0 GHz)
Graphics: Adreno 405
Memory: 2Gb RAM/ 8 or 16 Gb internal with expandable support.
Weight: 136gms
Camera: 13 MP rear and 5 MP front, 4X Digital Zoom
Software: Android 5.0 Lollipop
Features: Waterproof – IP65 and Dustproof IP68, 4G LTE.
Battery: 2400 Mah.
Thoughts: On papers, the M4 Aqua sounds better than a mid-ranger. But, from the price point of view it’s behind some of the big flagships like Nexus 5’s and even the One Plus Ones. If you consider the value for money, the phone is a good buy, the water and dust resistance puts it forward.
Though the phone has some mediocre specs, it scores well when considering Sony camera and water proofing. Plus, a 720p screen and 2400 MAh battery along with 64 bit Octa Core means, you get a bit more juice out of it.
What are your thoughts on the cheapest waterproof phone? Are you willing to pay a little more so that you could play with it in the rain and shower with your phone?! Or would you rather buy a phone with better specifications? Let us know in the comments section.
