This story is about students from a small town in Dakshina Kannada (Mangalore) district of Karnataka. A brief on activities done by students of Indraprastha Vidyalaya on teachers day is here –
The students of this school did something unique that would leave everyone amazed and raise their eyebrows! They asked their teachers to go to ‘Balavana’ which is located 15 Kms away from the school to have some recreational activity. (Balavana was conceptualized and built by Jnaana Peeta awardee Sri Shivarama Karanta and is today a place for educational activities and a center for study)
All the staff including the helpers was asked to go to Balavana, and for that day, the students took responsibility of school activities.
The mock parliament of the school took the responsibility of managing the activities of the school. The Prime Minister of the mock parliament was the Principal of the school and Home minister took the responsibility of Vice Principal and rest of the ministers took responsibility of teachers, helpers etc. and every role of school management, administration, and the staff was fulfilled by students for the day!
Note – Only 1 teacher and 2 alumni were available in the campus throughout the day to handle any emergency situation if required. (But they were left jobless because the students handled everything so perfectly!)
