Respected readers, if I ask my young friends or anyone what is the value of your mobile he will tell me within a moment. They can even tell the values of any goods and services.
But when it comes to human values they may remain silent for a while and think of a particular person’s salary, the power that he has and so on. The tragedy of civilized world is human values are measured by the materialistic values. At first, it is our prime duty to understand the definition of human values.
What are Human values?
Human values are set of behaviour which is accepted and expected from everyone in the society.
I want to share a small story written by me to make you understand the importance of the human values.
It was a marriage function of a great businessman and he had invited his 4 best friends and it was time for the presentation. One of his friends gifted diamond, another gifted silver, another gifted the gold and the last one gifted a book. All were surprised because they all were very rich. Businessman and all other 3 friends asked and even the man who is getting married also asked, “Why you gifted me a book?”
The answer given by the 4th friend is a lesson for our lives.
“This book has the power to motivate you whenever you feel sad that means when you motivate yourself and smile, it looks like a silver smile. It can be a guide for all your good works means it has an action plan about how to do good works. Now assume that if life is a body and work is gold chain, people only look the gold chain of your good work not the gold chain what you have now and this book is more than a diamond ring because it has the set of value which can be taught to your children so that you can remain like a diamond ring in their heart forever and your words only motivate them to carry your good work.” Finally, he said, “This book is worth more than gold, diamond, silver.”
What can we do as a youth of our country to promote human values?
Gift a good book wherever you go.
Start a practice of giving a good book in family function along with giving sweets.
Spend one day in a year and speak about values in a school.
Write articles about values.
Try to demonstrate the value.
Let your house be full of inspirational quotations.
“Try not to become a man of success rather try to become a man of values.” These words of Einstein let us decide this year that we will be little unselfish and let us have the meaningful celebration of national youth day by sacrificing our selfishness.
