In what we can call it as a first, Mangalore’s most-heard radio station 92.7 BIG FM sets a new benchmark with a non-stop 106-hour Idea presents BIG RJ Marathon. RJ Rakshitha flagged off the marathon this Republic day at 7 am from the Mangalore BIG FM studio. The marathon ended on January 30th at 5 am, completing a record 106 hours.
As a part of the nationwide campaign #IndiaSharesIndiaCares, the Marathon started out as a 92-hour program. However, it was extended up to 106 hours due to positive audience response.
During the marathon, various guests spoke about the power of Internet and Internet sharing. Guests and listeners were invited to take the pledge of internet sharing by giving a missed call to 1800 30 101 927. For each missed call received, Idea would be donating 1MB data to NGOs focusing on child education.
Some marked personalities who took the pledge include Health Minister Mr. U.T. Khadar, MLA Mr. Moiuddin Bava, MLA Mr. J.R. Lobo, MLC Mr. Ganesh Karnik, Mangalore International Airport Director Mr. Radhakrishna, Film actor Devdas Kapikad, Traffic Department ACP Mr. Udayanayak, Panaboor Beach Development Authority President Mr. Yathish Baikampady and Film Producer Rajessh Bhat. A large number of journalists, bloggers, techies, businessmen and website owners also took the pledge. The Managing Editor of our Readoo Website, Aditya Kalluraya also took part in the RJ Marathon and shared his experiences about Readoo Website and The Internet in general. At the end of the Marathon around 5,50,000 MB data was collected from across India – including via microsites and tweets.
