Everyone celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Some do it by cutting cakes, lighting divas, some do it with silent prayers and some with fireworks. We at Readoo.in are also celebrating something similar. Call it the first birthday of Readoo, or the first anniversary of this journey, we are celebrating it. But just lighting diyas and cutting cakes is not our way of celebration. We believe in inspiring people, and setting up a platform for those who believe that they have talents and are in search of a platform to exhibit it.
This is how the idea of Dristikon 16 came in. An idea which landed in the discussion between us in the last week of January rolled out with an action plan in a week’s time. By February 2nd week we were all set with banners, posters invitations and a core team to work on marketing the event. Right from Facebook messages to phone calls, emails to Facebook posts we did everything on earth to reach as many people as we could. And the response!! Wow, it speaks for us on its own. 154 contestants who made it by 21st. And we are sorry that we couldn’t accommodate another 50 + people who contacted us after the deadline.
And yes. How can we forget our passionate readers? Your response has been awesome. You came in large numbers and supported this initiative. We had over 9000 people coming and voting for the contest, and that is a big number. We never expected such huge response. But this response has made us believe that we can do better and more. This also puts the immense responsibility on our shoulders to stand up and deliver to meet your expectations and we are happy to do it.
