Opinion, Price and Release Date in India: Samsung is still the largest OEM of smartphones. They have sold almost 350 million smartphones in 2015. But they have been hit very hard by the recent born OEMs such as Xiaomi, OnePlus and Huawei. The Galaxy S6 was the result of that, Samsung redesigned their flagship Galaxy device completely to tackle Apple and other OEMs with a premium design and specs. There was no doubt that the Galaxy S6 was the best device from Samsung, with few flaws such as battery and expandable memory.
With Galaxy S7, those few flaws have been rectified along with some additional features. Samsung brought back the MicroSD slot and a bigger battery, the biggest drawbacks of S6. Also, you get a lower megapixel camera, with a big sensor, which will absorb more light for each pixel. The new Samsung camera will definitely be a benchmark in low-light photography. It will set a new standard for other OEMs.
So, there you go. Everything you’ve wanted, and something more. Rethink what a phone can do – is the tagline of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. We will have to wait and see if they have re-thought about reducing the prices too. The typical Samsung pricing of these devices would be Rs. 44,000/- for the S7 and 56,000 Rs./- for the S7 Edge. Unless Samsung CEO get enlightened, we don’t expect the prices to fall.
We expect the devices to be released in India next month. If you are looking for currently available best Android devices, perhaps, you can consider the Nexus 6P or the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
Update: Samsung officially launched the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in India on 8th March. The price, as we predicted, for the S7 it is 46,800 Rs./- and for the S7 Edge it is, Rs. 56,900. Which is a little higher than what we’ve predicted. If you’re looking to get one of these devices, we suggest, the Galaxy S7 Edge, as it has an Edge in terms of battery and screen size.
