They say Rome was not built in a single day, so is the case with the beautiful Taj Mahal. Well, that is the case with dreams and achievements as well. We see the smiling faces of achievers on TV and their interviews on the internet. What we don’t see is the hard work and dedication that brought them there.
This is a small try to help you see the hard work behind success. This is the success story of Ananth G, The Medical CET topper of Karnataka for the academic year 2015-2016 and a student of the prestigious Alva’s Pre-University college, Moodbidri. This is the written version of the interview that the Team Readoo had with him.
Q: First of all congratulations Ananth for your achievement. This is a happy moment for us all.
A: Thank You, it indeed is a happy moment.
Q: Can you brief us on how was your preparation?
A: The preparation was simple and repetitive. 6 hours of study daily. I read Theory as well as MCQ’s. You just need to work on the NCERT text books. Needn’t run behind thousands of other books for CET. Follow the NCERT syllabus. And develop the skills of understanding and comprehending things. That will help a big deal in making you successful.
Q: Did u expect that you would top the exams?
After writing the CET exams, and after cross verifying my answers with key answers I had a score of 174/180. I had an idea that I would be in the top 10. But being the topper was a surprise, a good one indeed.
Q: Share us that moment of happiness when u got to know that you had topped the exams
Well, I really felt happy, in fact, I was overwhelmed, when the principal of my college called me up on the phone and said me that I was the topper of CET 2016. It was a very proud moment for me
Q: What are your future plans?
A: I want to pursue my career in the field of Medicine. MBBS first and then MD. I want to serve people and the society. Especially the ones in need.
Q: What do you think is the main reason behind your overwhelming success?
A: First things first, nothing can happen without the blessings of the God. I feel that I am blessed to get this result. I also strongly feel it is the blessings of my parents. I would like to even mention my grandfather Manjunathayya, his blessings indeed. And also the hard work that I put and the dedication that I had helped me out. The college faculty were also very helpful in getting this out of
Q: What is your advice for the future CET aspirants??
A: I would want them to fully concentrate on their goals and exams. The approach needs to be specific for subjects. For example, you need to memorize formulas in physics, make a sheet of formulas, have a look into it at least once in a week. You just will then have to look into the question, apply the formula and get the answers. You need to develop the skill of understanding the subject and the concept behind it when you pan to study. NCERT books are good enough follow it. Learn time management. That is a very important aspect. Biology needs memory. Understand and remember the stuff that the lecturers say in classes. NCERT books every line. Books like ‘Errorless’ for Physics, ‘NCERT at your fingertips’ for chemistry are of great help for students. You needn’t have to worry much about referring to other books or dealing with other stuff. A month’s time between PUC exams and the CET are very important. Make the best utilization of this time to succeed.
Q: How did your parents help you out in doing this?
A: I stayed in the hostel. They would call me up and encourage me. They would always ask me to keep my cool and not take tension. My mom is very religious she used to offer prayers for my well-being and success. They have always supported me.
Q: How was the support of your college?
A: Alva’s College is the other name for discipline. Right from hostel warden to faculty in college everyone was supportive. Our routine would start at 4.45 AM. By 5 we would start studying. It would go on till 6.45. And then I would have breakfast in hostel mess, and the college bus would take us to college. There were regular classes till noon. Afternoon we had special classes for CET. Specialist faculty, efficient HOD’s and experts in the field with Ph.D. would give us expert guidance in cracking CET
Q: Did you try out any coaching?
A: I didn’t take any external coaching. Every bit of my academic coaching was from Alva’s PU College itself.
Q: What is your advice for those who say that they can’t study?
A: There is nothing that is impossible. You should be self-motivated to study and achieve. There should be constant support from peers and family members and they should be motivated to achieve. Hard work and continuous effort are the only things which make us what we are.
