Deploying Brahmos, a short-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile with an operational range of 290km to 300km, on the India – China border comes as a daring move by the government of India. China has been provoking and engaging itself in border conflicts in both western and eastern sector of the border. During the UPA regime in the year 2010, Indian army deployed Mountain Strike Corps to counter Chinese antagonism at the border. However, they proved futile.
With increasing threat from Chinese armed forces at the eastern bordering around Arunachal Pradesh the present NDA government seemed to have taken up the challenge head on to engage Chinese in a more effective way. Hence, India has deployed supersonic missiles on the border has exceeded its own needs for self-defense and poses a serious threat to China’s Tibet and Yunnan provinces. Deploying BrahMos missile is bound to increase competitiveness and confrontation in Sino-Indian relations and bring a negative influence to the stability of the region.
Indian Army has already tested Brahmos missile near McMohan line and it is capable of hitting the enemy targets in the tough mountain region within seconds.
It really a surprising to see Indian government take such aggressive stand against China said defense analyst and also went on to say such move has given a clear sign that India does not have any more tolerance for Chinese aggression in the border. This aggressive stand by India could now initiate dialogues between the country. “While China suppressed India all this while with its might military, should now relook into its strategy of dealing with new India. The Modi lead BJP government will not compromise on the national security” said Chines local newspapers.
